Randy Just – January 17-19
Randy Just is the director of BKS Iyengar Yoga Studio of Dallas and is a Senior Intermediate 1 Certified Iyengar Yoga Instructor. His study of yoga began in the 1970s and during the mid 1980s, he became a devoted student of Iyengar Yoga. Randy has studied with the Iyengars in Pune, India, as well as with many senior Iyengar Yoga teachers globally and throughout the US. Randy’s devotion to yoga, perfectionism and compassion for his students characterize a dynamic, precise teaching style. His innate sense of humor coupled with an insightful understanding of Iyengar Yoga inspires and challenges his students, thus enhancing the depth, clarity and focus of their practice.
Holly Walck Kostura and Edwin Bryant – April 3-5
Holly Walck Kostura has been a student of Yoga since 1997 and teaching in the Lehigh Valley since 2002. In 2004, she founded The Iyengar Center of the Lehigh Valley with the intention of sharing the practice of Iyengar Yoga with her community. Holly studies regularly with her mentor, Patricia Walden of Cambridge, MA. She also travels to Pune, India annually to practice and train with the Iyengar family at the renowned Ramamani Iyengar Memorial Yoga Institute. Holly has studied directly with BKS Iyengar and Geeta Iyengar in the USA, Canada and China. She currently holds the Senior Intermediate I teaching certificate.
Edwin Bryant is an American Indologist. He taught Hinduism at Harvard University for three years, and is presently professor of Religions of India at Rutgers University where he teaches courses on Hindu philosophy and religion. He published seven books and authored a number of articles on Vedic history, yoga, and the Krishna tradition. In his research engagements, he lived several years in India where he studied Sanskrit and trained with several Indian pundits. In addition to his academic courses, Edwin currently teaches workshops at yoga studios and teacher training courses throughout the country.
Gail Ackerman – June 12-14
Gail Ackerman has been practicing and teaching Iyengar Yoga for 30+ years. She is certified at the Intermediate level. She came to the Iyengar method in 1980 to explore and heal the scoliosis of her spine and chronic sciatica pain exacerbated by a decade making her living as a production potter. She has been blessed with several opportunities to study with both BKS Iyengar and his daughter Geeta in Pune, India and during their travels to the US. She strives to bring freshness and a beginner’s mind to every body, in every practice.
Mary Obendorfer and Eddy Marks – October 16-18
Mary and Eddy are Senior Iyengar Yoga teachers certified at the Advanced level. They teach worldwide as well as train and assess teachers for certification. They have studied for decades with the Iyengars in India, living there for a year in 2003 and seven months in 2009. Guruji’s original and transformative approach to yoga inspires them to guide students with clarity and precision from the skin to the soul. They co-direct the BKS Iyengar Yoga Center of San Diego, established in 1979.
