Advancing Your Practice with Don – first Saturday of the month
Join Don on the first Saturday of every month from 10:30am-12:30pm for these advanced workshops.
Students should have at least one year of steady Iyengar yoga and be able to practice inversions on their own. This study workshop is meant to help facilitate a home practice. One’s sensitivity in the postures increases on a physical, organic (physiological), mental and spiritual level when a home practice is firmly established. Some of the benefits of self-study are not only physical, but mental and emotional as well. In these monthly workshops, we’ll study fundamentals needed to achieve success in different groups of asanas – standing poses, seated poses, forward bends, inversions, backbends, abdominal poses, twists and restorative/supported poses. Each month, the workshop will have a different focus.
Workshop schedule: Feb. 2nd clarity in the shoulders and neck, Mar. 2nd twists, Apr. 6th ropes.

Ropes Workshop – Feb. 9th
Kurunta is a puppet or doll made in South India from wood. Geeta Iyengar speaks of the value of using yoga ropes as a way of breaking the barriers of the mind and body to find freedom. Yoga Kurunta can give us a sense of direction and courage to create the space required to understand freedom in all directions.
Vickie will demonstrate each asana and then students will practice at their own skill levels. All levels of students welcome. This 2-hour workshop costs $30 if paid in advance or $35 day of class. Download this flyer or contact us for more details.

Inversions Foundations – Feb. 23rd
Sirsanana (Headstand), Sarvangasana (Shoulder stand)
Learn the foundations of these most essential asanas as you apply them to your own life and practice. Whether you are newer to Iyengar Yoga or have been practicing for a longer time, this class will give you the opportunity to learn, assess, and use your skills of awareness with confidence for long-term benefits.
Geeta Iyengar wrote in “Yoga A Gem for Women” that Sirsasana (headstand) and Sarvangasana (shoulder stand) “can be compared to our parents who help us, guide us, and make our lives a success. Many of the diseases of the body and mind are cured by their practice.”
